Summary
To get the most out of targetconnect, each department should appoint a dedicated product champion. This person will act as the go-to expert for the system and help ensure it’s used effectively across the team.
Responsibilities of a targetconnect Champion
The champion should be someone who can:
- Train colleagues on how to use targetconnect
- Answer questions about its functionality and how it supports departmental processes
- Manage configuration changes within the system
- Liaise with internal IT on technical matters such as student data imports and single sign-on
- Coordinate with GTI Support for issues requiring external assistance
Ideal Profile of a Champion
To be successful in this role, the person should have a mix of technical skills, process knowledge, and personal attributes:

- Strong communicator, comfortable engaging with users, students, and employers
- Willing to take ownership of system-related tasks
- Self-starter who enjoys learning and problem-solving
Time Commitment
This is not a full-time role. Depending on the time of year, it may require 25–50% of a person’s time. However, it is a critical role that:
- Improves departmental efficiency and reduces system-related frustrations
- Enables full use of targetconnect’s features, unlocking potential efficiency gains
- Ensures the system evolves in line with departmental needs
Implementation Involvement
Ideally, the champion will be involved from the start of the targetconnect implementation. This ensures they gain a deep understanding of the system’s configuration and can support its ongoing development.
